William Stroup

William E. Stroup, age 86, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the VA Medical Center. He was born in Renovo, PA on September 2, 1935, the son of the late Raymond & Florence Renney Stroup. William was a proud member of the US Army. He retired from the railroad after 42 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, watching the news, hunting with his dogs, fishing and spending time with his family. He always looked forward to his Polish breakfast at Dabrowski’s. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife O. Elizabeth Heitzenrater Stroup in 1989, his son Berton Stroup in 2016 and brothers Robert and Raymond Stroup. 

He is survived by his children: Deborah Gibbs (Dave), Susan Sherry (Don), Boyd Stroup (Carolyn), Barbara Adams (Jon) and Linda Snow (Adam); also a brother-in-law, Edward Heitzenrater. He is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Road on Friday, May 27 from 12 p.m. until the time of service there at 2 p.m.  Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
