William "Bill" Steadman

May 9, 1964 — September 11, 2023

William (Bill) James Steadman, 59, passed away suddenly on September 11, 2023. He was born in Erie, PA on May 9, 1964 to the late Wilbert James Steadman and Mildred Brady Steadman Metzler. He graduated from East High School and attended classes at Gannon College.

A devout student of Catholicism, he was a lifelong member of Saint Peter Cathedral and a die-hard fan of Notre Dame Football. He was honored to be a communion steward for the parish and enjoyed his participation in the Sunday suppers ministry.

As a young man, Bill enjoyed many years as a Boy Scout, developing a love for overnight backpacking and primitive camping. His appreciation for outdoor activities later expanded to include fishing, becoming a skilled resource regarding the latest equipment, local Fish and Game regulations, and the best fishing spots in surrounding areas.

He was particularly proud of being able to share his passion of Scouting with his beloved son, Phoenyx, as a Den and Scout leader for the last 7 years. He led his pack on many adventures, teaching them valuable life skills and a respect for all things. Tent camping was a favorite adventure, and he took advantage of every opportunity to participate with his scouts.

Bill will be remembered for his love of "dad jokes" and his knowledge of many subjects, relishing the chance to educate, discuss, and even debate. Above all, he loved Kimberly, his wife of 33 years, and their son Phoenyx. From family day trips to quiet evenings at home, he was happiest when able to be in their presence.

He is preceded in death by both parents, aunts Helen Courteaux and Pat Szilagziand stepfather Bill Metzler.

Besides his wife and son, he is survived by a brother, Michael Steadman (Tammy) a sister, Catherine Steadman, nephews: Christopher Steadman, Michael, Wyatt, Jacob, Weston and Cole; nieces: Cassandra Roudybush, Rachel and Lydia; several great nieces and nephews, and many cousins, including Christine (Joe) Colineri of Pittsburgh. There were also sisters in law Lorinda Hull (Bobby) and Caroline Roudybush brother-in-law David Hammer (Vicky), and mother-in-law Bonnie Hammer.
