William Francis Phillips, Jr., “Forever 39”, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at his home in West Springfield, PA. He was born in Erie on August 7, 1956 to the late William F. Sr and Ollive R. Hanna Phillips.
He graduated from East High School in 1975 and worked as a Rehab Technician at Encompass Health. Previously, he worked in security at UPMC Hamot. He also sold model trains on Ebay. He was a member of the US Marine Corps, the Siebenberger Club and passionate about collecting model trains, especially the Pennsylvania Railroad with his grandson.
In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ruth Nagare and Kathie Scott.
He’s survived by his fianceé, Mary Grumblatt of West Springfield; his sons, William F. Phillips III, Jacob M. Phillips and Benjamin T. Phillips (Kirsten Kluck) all of Erie; his grandson, Joseph of Erie and 2 sisters, Stella Starn (William) of Meadville and Patricia Savoia (Christopher) of Cambridge Springs. He’s further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 2 pm at Valley Cemetery with Pastor Terry Campbell of Cranesville & West Springfield Community Church officiating.
