Virginia Fuhrer Birkmire

Virginia Fuhrer Birkmire age 99, of Erie, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 at Forestview.

She was born in Erie on June 2, 1925, a daughter of the late Fred and Matilda Ruf Fuhrer.

She graduated from Millcreek High School in 1943.

Virginia was a homemaker and founder and co-owner of Birkmire trucking for more than 50 years.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Birkmire Sr.; son Kenneth Birkmire Sr.; daughter Kathy Birkmire; grandson Kenneth Birkmire Jr.; daughter in law Sandra Birkmire, grandson Timothy Birkmire Jr., brothers Bill and wife Eleanor Fuhrer; Fred J. Fuhrer and his wife Ina, Edward Fuhrer and his wife Jeannette, Eugene Fuhrer and his wife Nancy, and a sister Florence and her husband Robert Brunner.

She is survived by seven sons; Thomas Jr. and his wife Crystal, Timothy and friend Suzanne, James, Christopher and his wife Laura, David, Jeffrey, Michael and friend, Jamie; a daughter in law Kathy, a sister-in-law Neva Fuhrer and her best friend Pat Murphy. She is further survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Thursday, November 14, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church 2401 West 38th St. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
