Violet Griffin–Muhammad 

Sunrise April 27, 1952 to Sunset: June 22, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Mack Griffin and Effie D. Jackson; her siblings, Earl Jackson, Madison Griffin, of Mississippi, and Leola R. Ritchie of Erie, Pennsylvania; her nieces, Stephanie Williams and Frances Beason; and her nephews, Charles Ritchie, Clarence Ritchie, Theodore James Ritchie, and Furman Ritchie, whom she loved and raised. 

Violet was a loving daughter, sister, and caring aunt.Violet was retired from Battersby Nursing Home. She truly loved the Lord, enjoyed going to garage sales, and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. She loved to laugh and embraced life to the fullest.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Saleem Muhammad; her siblings, Mary Alice Smith, Mary Jones, Ruth Griffin, and George (Eloise) Jackson of Dlo, MS, and Jesse (Shirlene) Griffin of Jackson, MS; her stepchildren, Michael (Nicole) Green, Anthony (Esther) Green, and Lakesha Muhammad; and her dear friends, Darlene Green, Mattie Ratcliff, and Ruby Thompson. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Viewing and wake services will be held at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th St. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with the wake from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Elder Clint Robert’s. Arrangements have been entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Funeral Home.

Her final resting place will be D'Lo, Mississippi.
