Vanessa Allen, age 66, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026. She was born on May 24, 1959, in Osceola, Arkansas, to the late Augustus Allen, Jr. and Barbara Jean Clayton Jordan.
In the early 1970s, Vanessa relocated with her family to Erie, Pennsylvania, where she would go on to build a full and meaningful life. She was a proud graduate of Erie Business Center and dedicated many years of service to her community. Vanessa retired from ERIE Insurance Group after more than two decades of employment and faithfully served at the Erie County Assistance Office for 10 years.
Vanessa had a vibrant spirit and a deep love for life. She was an avid gardener who found joy in nurturing beauty, and she had a special talent for floral design. Vanessa loved traveling, listening to music, especially her favorite artist, Michael Jackson, and could often be found dancing and singing with joy. Vanessa was also a devoted member of First Good Samaritan Church, where her faith and fellowship were important parts of her life.
Vanessa was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Vickie Lynn Roberts; and her beloved grandson, Anthony James Szymczak.
Vanessa leaves behind to cherish her in memory, her children: daughters, Kesha Allen of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Kanika Allen of Chesapeake, Virginia; and her son, Willie Hollaman of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her four grandsons, Michael, Jamie, Devon, and Malcolm; three great-grandchildren, Anya, Mila and Michael; her brothers, Augustus Allen III of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Anthony “Tony” Jefferson (Valerie) of Osceola, Arkansas; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
