Timothy James Bauer,59, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026. He was born in Erie on May 23, 1966 the son of the late John and Shirley (Kuhn) Bauer.
Tim is survived by his brothers, Ken (Sue Forish) Bauer and Jim (Amy Laurnoff) Bauer, along with nieces and nephews: Stephanie Nielsen (Jon), John Bauer (Maggie Ignasiak), Jenna Grauer (Keith), and Andrew Bauer. Tim also leaves behind great-nieces and great-nephews: Amelia, Jacob, Wesley, Mayla, and Frances.
Timmy was a beautiful soul with Down Syndrome who touched the hearts of everyone he met. His presence was cherished beyond words. To know him was to experience unconditional love, boundless joy, and an infectious spirit that could light up any room. Tim’s gentle nature reminded us daily of the most important things in life. He taught us invaluable lessons in patience, kindness, and love, and reveled in the simple pleasures of life.
Tim’s journey with the Barber National Institute family began at just 18 months old. He attended Erie City schools, graduating from Tech Memorial High School in 1987. Tim went on to work at the Barber National Institute for over 35 years, taking great pride in his job and relishing the satisfaction of earning his paycheck.
Tim had many hobbies, including bowling, biking, swimming, shooting hoops, and working in the yard. No matter the task, he was always eager to help others. He also had a fondness for pizza, juicy hamburgers with French fries, and finishing off his meals with a hot fudge sundae.
For the past four years, Tim lived in a Barber National Institute group home, where he found a second family. They welcomed him with open arms, showering him with love and care. We are deeply grateful for the support and compassion they provided.
Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services Inc., West Ridge, 3801 W.26th St. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and are invited to attend Funeral Services there Thursday at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Laurel Hill cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Barber National Institute in Tim’s honor or to a charity of one’s choice.
