Thomas “Tom” Heckathorn, Jr., 58, of Erie, passed away August, 8, 2026.

He was born March 30, 1968, in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the son of the late Thomas Heckathorn, Sr., and the late Leona Kosiorek.

Tom was a 1986 graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School, where he was an exceptional football player. His strength, determination, and competitive spirit were evident both on the field and throughout his life. Following high school, Tom proudly served four years in the United States Navy before being honorably discharged.

Tom worked as an ironworker for most of his career, a demanding profession that reflected his strength, hard work, and perseverance. Those who knew Tom knew that beneath his strong exterior was a kind and caring heart.

As a born-again Christian, his faith in Jesus Christ gave him hope and, in his final days, the assurance that he was going home to be with Christ.

Tom had a special love for his daughter, Haley. She held a precious place in his heart, and being her father was one of the greatest joys of his life.

Tom will be remembered for his strength, perseverance, and kindness.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Kimberly Brant.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Haley; his sister, Tina and her husband, Tom, his brother, William Heckathorn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 602 W. 10th St., Erie. At the convenience of the family, a memorial will be held at a later date.
