Thomas H. Coffey, died Thursday, August 8, 2025 at Saint George, Utah, at age 70 after an aggressive three-month battle with cancer. He was born in Erie on December 9, 1954 to John W and Marjorie Jones Coffey.
Tom graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1973. He had an industrious 32 year career with Maya Brothers Construction. As a cement-pourer, Tom had a hand in building many of Erie's institutions.
Tom lived his life in Erie, until he and his wife, Robin, decided to sell their home and travel the United States in a motorhome for three years. Together they traveled to 26 states and most recently called Quartzite, Arizona home in the winters.
Left to honor his memory are: his wife and life-partner, Robin Malliard; his children: Christina Lindvay (John), Benjamin Coffey (Tonya Straughn); his step children: Tanner Hannold (Jenny), Travis Hannold (Amanda) and his six grandchildren, Connor, Katie Ann, Madelyn, Abigail Hannold, Roa, and Gwenevere Lindvay, as well as one great-granddaughter Briar Blaire Hannold; his brother John Coffey, and sister Linda Harris (Jeff); several nieces and nephews, and work buddies.
In addition to being "Poppy" to his six grandchildren who he loved dearly, he loved basking in the sun after a hard day's work, going for long drives around Presque Isle, and taking pictures. For years he cheered on his children at their hockey and soccer games, and was quick to shovel the driveway or take an axe to firewood. Tom was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Erie Otters. Tom will be dearly missed by all who loved him, including his precious fur baby Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marjorie Coffey, and two brothers, James Coffey and David Coffey.
