Susan Jane Wilber

May 14, 1944 — March 2, 2024

Erie

Susan Jane Wilber died March 2, 2024. She was born in Brigham City, UT, the daughter of Lt. Col. Stanley and Mary Jane (Young) Wilber. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, David.

She attended Michigan State University and graduated from Western Michigan University, magna cum laude, in 1976. She worked in paper coatings research, technology and manufacturing for a number of different companies.

Susan was a wanderer, a trait likely imbued as the child of an Air Force officer. In addition to the 50 places she lived, she traveled extensively, finding wonder in all corners of the earth. She liked to keep her hands dirty, caring for her gardens, friends, pets, and her home. She never ceased to be amazed by all aspects and every element of the environment.

Her greatest joy and the most important part of her life was her three daughters, Elizabeth (Scott) Henson, Shawna (Rob) Raymond, and Cindi (Joe) Spero, and their children, Elaine Henson, and Natalie and Landon Spero.

Her cremated remains will be inurned by the family in Michigan, her ancestral home, at their convenience. A memorial celebration of life will be held in Erie, PA at a future date to be determined by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 w. 10th Street, Erie.

Instead of flowers, Susan would like you to do an act of kindness for someone who needs help. If your imagination fails you, donate time or money to The Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Network designating the Gardens or to Let’s Rebuild Ukraine Together.  She also asks that you read the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi and try to live by it every day.
