Susan M. Koeck

Susan M. Koeck, 98, passed away on Friday, February 27th, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital.

She was born on August 8, 1927, in Erie, PA, the daughter of the late George and Charlotte Selkregg McClelland. She was a 1945 graduate of Academy High School and a 1949 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University where she received a degree in Early Childhood Education. Susan was a member of the Penn State chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She married the love of her life, Richard Koeck, and together with their children, Christine and Roger, their family was complete.

Prior to becoming a full-time homemaker, she taught Pre-School class at the Erie Day School. Gardening was also a special interest, and she always had a beautiful perennial garden. She was a long-time member of The Presque Isle Garden Club, where she served as President and Treasurer. Interior home decorating and all the shopping involved was an interest that lasted all her life. She was an avid reader and had a strong interest in current events. She was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed family good times at the Peninsula, following her children’s various activities, and traveling in an RV to explore many parts of the country. In her later years she and Dick moved to Springhill where they were very active in the community, made many friends and really enjoyed a new lifestyle.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Richard R. Koeck, in 2024; as well as her cousin, Chris Showler.

Susan is survived by her daughter Christine of Erie; her son Roger of Dublin, OH; and a cousin, Tom Showler, of Erie.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St., on Tuesday, March 3rd from 2 PM until 4 PM and 6 PM until 8 PM, and are invited to attend a service there on Wednesday at 10 AM.
