Suntok Waite

Suntok Won Waite, of Warren, PA, passed away on Wednesday July 8, 2026, at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Hamhung, North Korea around 1933, a daughter of the late Yongdahl Won. She immigrated to the United States in 1965.

After high school she attended Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea studying voice, piano and violin. However, she found employment as a seamstress and in fashion design, making elaborate dresses for formal affairs. Proper dress was very important to her.

She met her current husband of 52 years, Dennis Waite, on a military base in North Carolina in 1972, marrying in 1974 in Cassadaga NY. They eventually settled in Warren, PA. Suntok enjoyed her luck at the casino and was a member of the Lakewood NY Rod and Gun Club. She and her husband were also members of the VFW.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

She is survived by her husband Dennis; her six children: Selah Oh of Seoul, South Korea, Sesong Oh of New Zealand, Sein Oh of Arlington, VA, Sesil Oh of Arlington, VA, David Otis of Columbus, GA and Allen Otis of Warren, PA.
