Shirley Tobias Wisniewski, age 99, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Juniper Village in Meadville, PA. She was born in Erie on February 14, 1926 to the late Floyd and Alice Buettner Tobias. She was raised in Erie and lived on Wattsburg Rd. most of her life before moving to Erie. She graduated from Academy High School in 1944.
Shirley and George were a loving couple who did many things together, camping, dancing, playing cards and they traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in November 2006 at a party given by their children and grandchildren.
Shirley was a member of the Presque Isle Square Dancers and several ballroom dance clubs and danced at retirement homes for the residents’ entertainment. She was also a member of Club 50, The Sunshine Group, Mercy Mad Hatters and the Red Hot Mamas. She enjoyed attending functions at the Mercy Center for the Aging and kept busy doing her many hobbies, which included knitting, crocheting, sewing, crafts and making jewelry. Her main passion was painting and she displayed in several galleries.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Wisniewski in 2013; brother, Larry Tobias and sister, Beatrice Grace.
Shirley is survived by her children, Marian Hamman (Ken) of Spokane, WA, Donald Wisniewski (Jean) of Waterford and William Wisniewski (Nancy) of Meadville; brother, Harvey Tobias of San Bernardino, CA. She’s further survived by 10 wonderful grandchildren, Becky Anthony, Jesse (Kelly) Wisniewski, Emily (Justin) Rose, Zachary (Sarah) Wisniewski, Hannah (David) Newell, Jordan (Alyssa) Wisniewski, Naomi (Steven) Bozinovich, Jillian Wisniewski, Andrea Wisniewski and Andrew Harvey and 15 great grandchildren, Lauren and Olivia Anthony, Leah , Titus, Faith and Phoebe Wisniewski, Levi and Isaac Rose, Iris and Lilly Newell, Clara and Ezra Bozinovich, and Andrew Jacob, Justin and Gabriella Harvey.
Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc., Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross rd., Erie, PA 16510 on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 2:00 pm until time of service at 4:00 pm with Pastor Bill G. Wisniewski, son of the deceased, officiating.
