Shirley C. Lechtner

Shirley C. Lechtner, 94, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away on June, 11, 2026. Born and raised in Erie, PA, to Sam and Sarah Cohen, she was one of 10 children. Shirley met the love of her life, Louis Lechtner, when she was just a teen. They married in 1952 and remained devoted to each other until Lou’s passing in 2013.

Shirley was known for her quick wit and humor, her sense of style, her work as an interior designer, her holiday menus and her willingness to befriend just about everyone. Once you were her friend, you became family. In fact, nothing made her more proud, more happy or more entertained than her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children: Lynne Stewart, Betsy (John) Doyle, Jacob (Carol) Lechtner and Frani Lechtner; nine grandchildren: Lindsay (Matthew) Parry, Carly (Gil) Sharon, Maxwell (Rachel) Stewart, Harrison Doyle, Charlotte Doyle, Sam (Christa) Lechtner, Elizabeth (William) Reinhardt, Matthew Lechtner and Andrew Lechtner. Shirley is also survived by her pride and joy - seven great grandchildren: Elle Morris and Jack Parry, Zoe Lechtner, Ori and Amit Sharon and Henry and Olivia Reinhart. She is also survived by her very dear, lifelong friends and “adopted” daughters: Debbie (Doug) Currie, Laura Currie, Kathryn Sterling and Jan Friedman.

Her legacy lives on in the beautiful homes she created, the traditions and recipes she passed down, the friends she treasured and the love she had for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered (with a smile!).

A private graveside service was held. Arrangements were entrusted to the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th St., Erie, PA 16502.
