Shirley Mae Davis

Shirley Mae Davis, age 91, passed away on Sunday 11 February 2024. 

She loved beauty, adventure, lively conversation, and her family. She was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, on May 13, 1932, to the late Donald and Lois B. (Templeton) Kuns. 

She was an identical twin. She and her sister, Sharon, and her brother Doug, spent their summers in Almont, North Dakota, with their maternal grandparents. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Russell Davis, of Erie, PA, in 2010. They met in Montana while she was teaching. After they were married, they lived in Montana, Colorado, and West Texas, then moved to Saudi Arabia for 10 years. Next, they moved to London, England, and Jackson, Mississippi. They moved to Erie when they retired. They traveled extensively, year after year, enjoyed art and history, and had an insatiable curiosity for life. An accomplished dressmaker, she sewed her daughters’ clothing when they were children. As a prolific quilter, she was active in several fiber groups in the Erie area. 

Shirley is survived by her brother, Doug Kuns; daughters, Jane Davis and Sarah Templeton (Alexander); three grandchildren, Alice Christensen, Lloyd Christensen and Bryn Templeton and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her dog, Gizmo, has looked for her everyday since she died. 

Friends and family are invited to call on the family at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th St., Erie, PA, on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. We will be celebrating her life with ‘show and tell’ of some of her quilts and, of course, cake! Inurnment to follow in Edinboro Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mercy Hilltop Center, 3715 Pennsylvania Ave, Erie, PA 16504.
