Shirley Ann Cairns

Shirley Ann Cairns, age 90, of Fairview, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family and lots of love on Monday January 12, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital.

She was born in Erie, PA on May 7, 1935, a daughter of the late Andrew “Duke” and Adeline Lena Zapitelli Mucciarone.

Shirley attended school at Strong Vincent High School. She worked at General Telephone Company prior to marriage then was a stay at home mom and homemaker, then worked as a secretary for the Fairview School District for over 30 years. She was a member at Holy Cross Church where she was member of the choir for many years. She liked to dance and sing, loved music and animals, and was a talented artist. She was a loving mother and wife and was a friend to everyone that knew her. She was naturally curious and bubbly and easily made strangers into friends.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James D. Cairns II; son, James D. Cairns III; daughter, Pamela M. Cairns (Beth Dryer); brother, Gary Mucciarone (David Silverman) and sister, Joanne Nathal (Al Nathal) and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, on Sunday January 18, 2026, from 2:00pm until 6:00pm and attend a funeral service on Monday at 10:00am at Holy Cross Church, 7100 West Ridge Road, Fairview. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
