Sarah C. Rettew

Sarah C. Rettew, age 81, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday February 7, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital.   She was born in Greensburg, PA, the only daughter of the late John and Gertrude Whalen Constantine.

Sarah grew up in Erie and graduated from St. Benedict Academy.   She worked for American Sterilizer which became Steris for many years in their purchasing department.

She had a love for life like no other and was the life of the party.  She enjoyed music and traveling.  She was especially proud of her Irish/Italian heritage and made two trips to Ireland.  But most of all, she loved her family and her friends that became family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law Chris Wenzler.

She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Wenzler and Elizabeth (Chris) Thompson; five grandchildren: Madeline Wenzler, Oliver Wenzler, Matt Thompson, Katie (Dustin) Crum, and Abby Thompson; and three brothers Jack, Ralph, Joe (Karen) Constantine.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to thank the amazing nurses, doctors and support staff on the 4th floor ICU and 8th floor at St. Vincent hospital for the wonderful care. 

Friends may call on the family on Thursday February 15 from 4-6pm at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services West Ridge, 3801 West 26th St. and are invited to a Funeral Mass on Friday February 16 at 10am at St. Patrick Church, 130 East 4th St.
