Samuel Jevon Simmons, the son of Bishop George and Juanita Simmons, entered our life Sunday, March 8, 1981 and departed Sunday, September 6, 2026 at his home.
He was baptized in the name of Jesus April 27, 1989 and later received the Holy Ghost in 1991.
Samuel attended Central High. During this time he was a member of the school prayer group. As a member of Toastmasters, he spoke before then Governor Tom Ridge. He was also a member of ASL and part of the team that went to state finals. He also attended Mercyhurst University and Erie Community College. He worked for the School District as Librarian, Library Aide and janitor.
Samuel had a love for travel, music, history, the Bible, languages, and reading. He completed but did not publish his own novel also loved photography.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Elder George Sr. and Allie E. Simmons and step-grandfather, Reid Hart, Jr.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by George Simmons III, Gregory V. (Felisha) Simmons, Theresa Papa (Shane Sr), Richard J. Simmons, Timothy Simmons, Michael Simmons, Nathan (Maya) Simmons, Marcus Simmons, Willie Simmons, and Matthew Simmons; God Sister, Andrea Chandler; nieces and nephews, Lydia, Abigail, Bethany, Mya, Evelyn, Gregory Jr., Sarina, Kayari, Drew, Amaya, Aubrey, Marcus Jr., Isaiah, Shane, Sean, Zelda, and Zarayah; several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and God parents Bishop McCoy and Mother McCoy.
Friends are invited to call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th St., on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 12-2 pm and 4-6 pm and on Tuesday for an 11 am service at True Holiness Church of Jesus Christ, 133 E 23rd St. followed by burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
