Ruthie Mae Boyd, age 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Born on March 13, 1954, she was the cherished daughter of the late Levy and Flora Lee Boyd. Ruthie was a longtime resident of Dunkirk, New York, where she spent most of her life and left an undeniable mark on her community. In her final months, she lived in Erie, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the deep love and devotion of her family who walked alongside her and personally cared for her through her final journey.

Ruthie dedicated years of her life to helping those in need, working faithfully for Rural Ministries in Dunkirk. She was a woman loved by many, known for a selfless generosity that meant she would truly give her last to anyone who asked. Her home was filled with music and warmth; she loved gospel and blues, and she would frequently sing her heart out. Ruthie was also a legendary cook, feeding people all over the neighborhood. When she wasn't caring for others or singing, she enjoyed playing bingo, visiting the casino, and, above all else, loving on her family. She was deeply family-oriented and treasured every moment spent with them.

Ruthie was the proud and loving mother of nine children. She is survived by her children: Charlene Wilson, Edward Wilson, Charlotta Wilson, Janie Wilson, Cerena Wilson, Ashley Boyd, Brenda Lewis, Vonetta Thomas, and Christopher Thomas.

She is also survived by her two siblings, Eddie Lee Boyd and Annie Boyd, alongside a multitude of adored grandchildren, including: Marquise Buchanan, Harmony Buchanan, Larry Wilson, Serenity Wilson, Jonteon Wilson, Legend Wilson, Shanae Butts, Demetrius Butts, Paris Samuels, Portia Waller, Earlie Waller, Mikaela Wilson, Kayin Odebraski, Eddie Wilson, Alysha Wilson, Nyasia Wilson, Kayla Wilson, Raelynn Oldenburg, Alexis Wilson, and Damienn Wilson. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighborhood friends.

Ruthie was reunited in heaven with her parents, Levi and Flora Lee Boyd; her siblings, Henry Lee Boyd, Maryanne Moreland, and EL Lee Boyd; and her beloved children who passed before her: Edwin Wilson, Timothy Wilson, Mike Wilson, and Rhonda Wilson.

Our mother Ruthie is already so deeply missed. We will forever yearn for her laughter, her incredible cooking, the unmatched love she gave us, and all the precious moments we were blessed to share with her.
