Ruth Smith

Ruth M. Smith, age 92, of Millcreek, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Erie on March 19, 1926 a daughter of the late Edwin and Hazel McIntyre Cornman.

Ruth attended East High School, worked at Halle Bros., Trasks and London’s department stores in Erie and was a homemaker,  caring for her family. 

She was an accomplished artist who enjoyed working in oils and pastels and was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church where some of her paintings are now displayed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Smith; nine brothers and sisters, a granddaughter, Sarah Ruth Stephenson and a grandson, Stephan Wilson.

She is survived by two daughters, Carroll Degenhart of Erie and Glenna Elzey of KY; two granddaughters, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are private and under the care of the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26^th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
