Ruth Michalak

Ruth Soder Michalak, age 76, of Erie, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness, on September 19, 2016. She was born March 28, 1940, a daughter of the late Martha Harmon Soder Tubbs and William Soder.

Ruth was a founding member of the Saint Jude the Apostle Church where she was a member of the Altar Society for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Michalak, brothers Richard Soder and William Tubbs and her sister, Mary Ellen Tubbs.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Julie Michalak and her son, Randy Michalak and his wife Tracy. She is further survived by two grandchildren, Abigail and Landon and brothers, Victor Soder and David Tubbs.

Friends are invited to call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, PA 16506, on Thursday, September 22, from 2:00 until 4:00 and 5:00 until 7:00 and Friday, September 23rd at 11:30 am, for a funeral mass at the Saint Jude the Apostle Church Chapel, 2801 West 6th Street, Erie PA 16505. Immediate burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 5711 West Lake Road, Erie, PA 16505.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
