Ruth Carolyn Copeland-McCullum

Ruth Carolyn Strickland Copeland McCullum, age 76, of Erie, passed away, Saturday, April 26, 2025. She was born in Ellisville, Mississippi, on November 16, 1948, a daughter of the late Robert Lee Strickland and Annie Ruth Whigham Strickland.

Ruth was a licensed cosmetologist. She worked for Erie Specialty Products for 10 years, before relocating to Indianapolis, Indiana where she ultimately retired from Henry Schein. Ruth was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board for several years. Ruth enjoyed baking, bowling, crocheting and knitting, but most of all she loved going to the casino.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Copeland, a sister, Edna Odom, and a brother, Willie Strickland.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Veronica Copeland of Erie; three brothers: Robert Strickland Jr. (Essie) of Detroit, MI, Charles Strickland and Douglas Strickland both of Erie; two sisters: Theresa Strickland (Willie) Morgan and Eula Strickland King of Erie; two grandsons: Anthony Copeland and Aaron Copeland of Kissimmee, Florida; and one great grandson, Anthony Copeland Jr. of Kissimmee, Florida; and an aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Friends may call at Second Baptist Church, 757 East 26th St, Erie, PA 16504, on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Service will follow promptly at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow in Erie Cemetery.
