Roberta Stammer

Roberta Stuart Stammer, age 96, of Erie, died on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Saint Mary's East. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, on September 10, 1917, the daughter of the late Robert and Anna Richie Wieneke. She graduated from Boise High School, Boise, Idaho in 1936 and Whitman College in 1940 and did her graduate work at the College of Idaho in 1941. She was a teacher, a homemaker, and taught youth swimming at the Glenwood YMCA for many years. She also enjoyed her garden and sailing. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Kieselhorst. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Richard; three daughters, Janet Lloyd of Ridgefield, Conn., Susan Cunningham of Lake City, Pa., and Kathrine Fine of Windsor, Conn. She is further survived by two grandchildren, Rebecca Leshinski and Daniel Fine. Private funeral arrangements are being handled by the Burton Funeral Home, 602 West 10th Street.
