Robert “Bob” Pfeffer, aged 76, passed away Saturday June 14, 2025, at Saint Vincent Hospital after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family: daughters Suzanne and Amy and their mother Deedra.
Bob was born February 6, 1949, to parents May and Lawrence Pfeffer. He joined siblings Elaine and Thomas. The family operated the Western Auto store in Fairview for many years. Bob graduated from Fairview High School in 1967 as a decorated letterman in several sports. He proudly served in the US Army as a part of the Old Guard. For the United States’ bicentennial in 1976, Bob and his friends built a flat boat and rode it down the Mississippi River - quite the adventure!
Bob worked for much of his life as a tool maker, a vocation he was very proud of. He was still working hard when he was admitted to the hospital, most recently for Port Erie Plastics. The company treated him very well throughout his tenure there. He was always a “mister fix it,” finding a way to solve most things with his mechanical knowledge or sometimes just plain ingenuity.
One of his greatest joys in life was riding his bicycle. He loved to bike trails in Franklin PA and Ashtabula Ohio. He clocked many miles on his bike throughout the years, finding even greater joy when he was able to purchase an e-bike. He was a proud supporter of Rails to Trails, which converted unused railroad tracks into bike paths. He (almost always) enjoyed watching the Cleveland Guardians play baseball, attending several games with his family over the past few years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and both siblings. He is survived by his daughters, Suzanne Pfeffer and Amy Bolla, as well as beloved son-in-law, Nicholas Bolla. He is further survived by several nephews, a niece, and extended family.
We are sure he will also be greatly missed by his friends who attended the “old farts breakfasts” with him, as well as his many friends and coworkers.
The family will be planning a grave side service for June 28, 2025 at 1pm in Fairview Cemetery, for those who are able to attend. Arrangements have been entrusted to Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. E, Girard. In Bob’s honor, we hope you will take a nice bike ride or crack open a Vernor’s ginger ale, pop on a Beatles record and enjoy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local NPR station or the Rails to Trails organization.
