Robert "Obie" Obendorfer

Robert “Obie” Obendorfer, age 79, of Erie, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023 at his residence.

He was born in Erie on April 8, 1944 to the late Fred and Anna Kruger Obendorfer.

Robert graduated from Tech Memorial High School in 1963. He served with the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam Conflict and worked at General Electric for 42 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Southwest Erie Lions Club; enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to camp. He loved spending time with his dog Jake and enjoyed traveling to Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Brown Obendorfer in 2019.

Robert is survived by sons, Kevin Obendorfer (Anita) of Pittsburgh and Kurt Obendorfer (Jamie) of Erie; daughter, DeAnn Gilbert (Chase) of VA and sister, Elaine McGuinness (Edward) of Baldwinsville, NY. He is further survived by grandchildren, Maya, Lily and Spencer Obendorfer and Claudia Gilbert; a niece, Colleen McGuinness and nephew, John McGuinness.

Friends may call on the family at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Road, Erie on Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service there at 1:30 p.m. The Summit Lions Club will do a brief prayer service at the funeral home at 12 noon on Saturday.

Burial in Erie Cemetery.
