Robert Dale Mercer

Robert Dale Mercer, 69, of Fairview, passed away on Thursday June 29, 2023, at his home.

He was born on February 21, 1954, in Weirton, WV, the son of the late Earl Mercer and Mary Highley Burskey.

Bob was a graduate of Oak Glenn High School and went on to serve in the United States Armed Forces. He worked in maintenance at Sarah Reed School in Erie, PA.  As a US Army Veteran, he was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 742. Bob loved working in his yard and golfing.  In the summer he enjoyed putts on his Harley Davidson.  Above all, he enjoyed being the best grandpa ever.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Geneva Mercer; spouses, Cheryl Krasinski Mercer, and Lee Butts; brothers, Bill and Chuck Mercer, stepbrothers, Jim and Bob Clark; sister, Betty Anne Oldaker; daughter, Christina Mercer and sister in law, Earlene Mercer.

Bob is survived by his brothers, Rick, Roger Joe (Debbie) and Dave (Debbie) Mercer; brother-in-law, Dencil Oldaker; daughers, Melanie (Loren) Osban and Colleen Loeslien; son, James Butts; grandchildren, Dawson and Ashley (Amelia) Butts; Mike Loeslien, and Robin (Tristan) Schoiack; great grandchild, Nolan Schoiack; his first spouse, Diane Tomes Walker; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements entrusted to Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
