Robert Koziel

Robert Koziel, age 74, went to be with Our Lord on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. He is the son of the late Frank and Janet (Johns) Koziel.

Bob was a trumpet player for Erie’s own Mar-Vels for over fifty years, playing numerous weddings, clubs and dances in the area.

Bob, affectionately known as “Polka Bob” was extremely proud to be the host of the Polka Celebration Show on LECOM radio every Sunday. He loved all the listeners and was grateful to bring polka music over the airwaves.

Bob was a member of Holy Trinity R.C. Church where he was a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Usher. He worked tirelessly for the Zabawa Polish Festival each year.

He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Alice (Benes) Koziel; his children, Timothy (Heather) Koziel, Sarah (Alex) Goetschius, Jillian (Clarence) Britt and Michael Koziel; proud Grampa to Ronald and Timothy; his sister, Beverly (Frank) Ogden; brother, Brad (Suzanne) Koziel and sisters-in-law, Pauline Ellis, Frances Macrino, Georgia Benes, Elaine (Dennis) Renz and Larraine (Joe) Sarti. He is also survived by his band mates: Pat Lorei, George Barber, John Portonova and Harry Parker and many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as friends.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Road, on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and are invited on Tuesday to a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 2220 Reed Street. Burial in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
