Robert Lee Hines

Robert Lee Hines, age 71, of Erie, transitioned on Saturday March 21, 2026.

He was born in Greenville, North Carolina on February 16, 1955, a son of the Late Beulah Hines.

Robert served in the United States Navy Reserves for 20 years and the United States Marine Corps for 4 years

He dedicated 38 years of work to the VA Medical Center and 25 years at Penn State Behrend.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #700.

Robert was a loyal Raiders Fan. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports, completing home improvements, traveling, and especially loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arvilla Hines and a brother, Charlie Frank Hines.

Robert is survived by his children; two daughters, Kizzy Hines (Erie, PA) and Shaherha Hines (Euclid, OH) and a son, Michael Birchfield (Erie, PA); grandchildren, Aujanique Gamble, Ja’Zareah Hines, Shamira Hines, Ayana Birchfield , Giovanna Birchfield, Javari Hines, Jamarja Hines-Tate, Julianni Birchfield, Luchiano Birchfield, Lucius Birchfield and Marcello Birchfield; one great grandchild Syke Hines; and a grand dog Charlie Charles Hines; sister-in-law, Alice (Cotton) Hines and a hosts of nieces and nephews (Fountain, North Carolina); Step-children, Shaylin Henderson, Mary Henderson, Natavia Vactor and Bryon Vactor, Jr.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc, Wintergreen 2532 Norcross Rd, on Monday, March 30th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors.
