Richard S. Seidel

Richard S. Seidel, age 83, of Millcreek, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Born in Erie on May 30, 1942, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Sigmund) Seidel. He was a proud graduate of Cathedral Prep and Gannon University.

Richard found joy in life’s simple pleasures—especially time on the water. Whether fishing or relaxing on his houseboat, he found peace near the water. He was a car enthusiast who enjoyed attending shows with his Corvette and sharing stories with fellow gearheads. An animal lover, he had a special bond with his many Dobermans over the years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Seidel, and sisters, Audrey Balko and Barbara Kwansik.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Byerly Seidel; daughter, Amy Alberico (Carl); and grandchildren, Lilian Lesh, Dominic, Emma, and Madeline Alberico. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St., Erie, on Friday, August 8th from 2 to 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 9th at 12 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 6248 West Lake Rd., Erie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an animal shelter of choice.
