Renae Marie Koehle

Renae Marie Koehle, age 64, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was born in Erie on December 24, 1958, a daughter of the late Chi and Connie Sulecki.

Renae was raised in a loving home in Erie’s East Bayfront and she proudly spent her entire life working and raising her family in the same neighborhood where she will always reign as the “Queen of Sobieski Street”. Renae graduated from Twin Tech High School in 1977 and immediately took a job at Hamot Hospital where she worked as a devoted employee for more than 35 years.

Renae was a national member of the Polish Falcons Club, the Siebenbuerger Club, and the Mothers’ of Twins Club. Renae fought every challenge in life and protected her family like a warrior. She was deeply patriotic, and also strongly spiritual – she would often say that “her guys upstairs” were looking after her. She loved listening to Elton John and Johnny Cash, watching Gone with the Wind, dancing at weddings, traveling to Las Vegas, junkin’ with her ladies, and spoiling her dog, Buster A. Koehle. But there was nothing in the whole world that Renae loved more than being GiGi to her grandkids and grandpups.

Renae was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tim Sulecki. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and adoring husband of 43 years, Joe Koehle; her son Joe Koehle (Natalie Pennington); her three daughters, Casey Brewer (Randy), Jackie Wassel (Chris), and Nickie Letto (Anthony); her five, grandchildren, Mackenzie, Bianca, Lucas, Bailee, and Emilia; her siblings, Cheryl Griffith (Paul), Jim Sulecki (Carole), Alex Sulecki, Tammy Sage (Brian), and Tracy Olson; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family members and friends whom she loved very deeply.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. 602 West 10th Street on Friday September 15, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
