Phyllis Julia Bucci Kovacic, born November 16, 1929, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service to her family, community and church.
Phyllis dedicated many years of her life to education as a librarian for the Erie School District, retiring in 1993. She found great joy in helping students discover the love of reading and learning, and her quiet kindness touched the lives of many.
A lifelong, faithful servant to the Lord, Phyllis attended The Church of Jesus Christ. She loved being a deaconess and playing the piano in her church for many years. Her faith guided her actions and relationships, and she lived as a beautiful example of generosity, compassion, love, and devotion to others.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, in 1994; her grandson, Ammon, in 1984; her daughter in law, Jill in 2018; and many dear friends and family members whom she cherished deeply.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother to George Alan (Diane), Karen Jean, Mark Steven (Kelly), and Sharon Lee (Tom). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Nichole (Carl), Ammon, Nathan (Kristen), and Alexander (Stephanie). Nothing brought her more joy than her role as Great-Grandma to Kenzie and Carter, a title she treasured dearly.
She loved the music of Frank Sinatra, church hymns, and Italian songs. Italian food was her favorite. Her Sunday sauce was enjoyed by family, church members, and friends for many, many years.
Phyllis’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
