Patrick Frank Lupo Jr. was born on April 1, 1946 to Patrick Frank Lupo Sr. and Margaret Czigler Lupo. A family of “Pats” also includes his sister, Sister Pat Lupo, OSB, their first born.
Pat was an all around athlete who shined in three sports. As a young ballplayer, Pat enjoyed the experience of a lifetime when he and his teammates were invited to play in The Little League World Series held annually in Williamsport, PA.
Pat attended St. George Catholic School where he was a great basketball player. He went onto humbly become a Star athlete at Carhedral Prep, graduating with the Class of 1964.
While at Prep, Pat was a winner of the Ma Kaiser Award and won seven varsity letters. Pat was also named All-City in three sports: baseball, basketball, and his favorite, football, where he was both an offensive and defensive end. He was also honored as The Top Schoolboy athlete by both the Erie Coaches Association and Support Our Sports Club.
After gradation from Cathedral Prep, Pat continued his education at John Carroll University. Then came the Vietnam War, where he served in the United States Army in 1965. Once Pat returned from Vietnam, he attended Gannon College and began a long career at Riley Stoker where he worked his way up to senior management level. Pat ended his career in manufacturing management, retiring from PSB Industries.
For more than 45 years, Pat was a devoted member of Culbertson Hills Golf Club—its longest consecutive member. His longtime golf partner, David, held the second-longest streak.
On May 12, 1984, Pat married Jackie Dawley at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. They raised three daughters: Melissa Cecelia and her husband Bruce, who blessed them with four grandchildren—Cecelia, Geno, Patrick, and Arch Clark; Rebecca Lynne, who gave them their grandson Thomas Patrick Baker; and Sarah Jane, who proudly claimed to be his favorite.
Throughout their daughters’ school years, Patrick coached them on their softball teams. A sport he enjoyed playing himself in the 1970s and 80s for Bell’s Cafe, Riley Stoker, and The Sports Page.
Pat cherished lifelong friendships—from high school teammates to colleagues and fellow members of The Sportsman’s Athletic Club, where he served as a past President.
Above all, Pat’s greatest joy was his family, who loved him deeply in return. While he will be missed by many, his legacy of kindness, humor, and love will endure in the countless memories he leaves behind. Some called him “Lucky Lupo,” but we know the truth—we were the lucky ones.
