Wali Yemani

February 24, 1949 — September 29, 2014

Wali Yemani age 65 of Erie PA, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh PA.

He was born February 24, 1949 to the late Willie Lucas and Pansy Seawright.

Wali was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.

He graduated from East High School. Wali went on to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondal, where he graduated with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. Wali also graduated from Northeast Regional Technology Institute with a degree in Computer Software Operations in 2013.

Wali was very avid at studying The Book of Quran and The Holy Bible. He later confessed his life to GOD.

Wali worked various jobs, most recently retiring from Better Baked Foods of Northeast after 19 years.

He also was a member of the Knights of St. John's, and Post 700 Club. Wali was a Big, avid Chicago fan. His hobbies included collecting metal, fishing and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren and family.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents David and Rebecca (Vincent) Seawright; three brothers: Alexander Seawright, Eddy Seawright, and Jeffrey Lucas; two sisters: Martha (Lucas) Bishop and Mary (Lucas)Ott; an uncle Samuel "Blue" Smith; his mother-in-law Retha Hayes, and son Lonica Hayes, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Virginia Yemani; his sons: Willie Lucas, Billy Lucas, Greg Hayes, Marickus Hayes all of Erie; 37 grandchildren; his daughters: Belinda Lucas, Temeria Hayes, Siedah (Geoffrey) Patterson and Laretha Patterson of Erie; his brothers: Andrew Seawright of Erie, Dawaad Yemani, Douglas Lucas (Alicia) of Chicago, Jamaal Yemani of Pittsburgh and Timothy Lucas of Arizona; his sisters: Becky Young of N.C, Kathleen Woodard (Leonard), Winnie Lucas, and Annette Lucas all of Erie; a special cousin Linda Clanton; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and friends.

Calling hours will be Monday, October 6, 2014 at Morning Star Baptist Church, 327 East 23rd Street, from 4 pm- 8 pm followed by a homegoing service there on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11AM officiated by Rev. D.F. Hunter. Burial at Erie Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, Pa. 16502.
