Rosanne Hyatt

June 29, 1943 — July 2, 2021

Rosanne Hyatt died at Manchester Commons on Friday, July 2, 2021 after a long battle with dementia. On June 29, 1943 she was welcomed into the world at St. Vincent Hospital by her parents, Marian and R. Kenneth Healy.
Attending Villa grade school, her first grade teacher wrote “Rosanne is a friend to all!” and this summarized her interactions with everyone she met. She was a sincere and empathetic friend to everyone, and she could brighten any room with her smile.
After graduating from Villa Maria Academy, she took courses at Gannon while working as a medical secretary, first for a private orthopedic office and then at St. Vincent Health Center.
Married on her birthday in 1968, she and her husband moved to Pittsburgh for him to complete medical school at the University of Pittsburgh and an internship at Mercy Hospital. They then moved to Washington, D.C. for him to complete his residency at Bethesda Naval Hospital and next to Philadelphia Naval Hospital where he was an attending staff member. Returning to Erie after his discharge from the Navy, Rosanne loved being with family and friends again. She loved taking care of her family and maintaining an immaculate home (not necessarily in that order). Her love of animals was a lifelong trait, having up to three cats and a dog at the same time. Singing was another favorite activity of hers, both with the St. Jude’s Church choir and the Lake Erie Concert Choir.
She loved her Irish heritage and next to Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day was her favorite time to celebrate, never missing the Irish Brigade at St. Pat’s Auditorium or any Irish musical groups at Mercyhurst College. She also hosted many large St. Patrick Day celebrations.
Rosanne is survived by her husband of fifty three years, Floyd R. Hyatt along with their children; Patrick A. Hyatt (Donna) of Baltimore, MD; Sean C. Hyatt of Atlanta, GA; and Shannon K. Loaeza (Domingo) of Churchville, NY. She is also survived by her brother, John J. Healy of Sommerdale, NJ. Rosanne adored her grandchildren; James, Owen, Connor, Liam and Colin Hyatt; Shona and Charlie MacPhee, and William Loaeza.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick R. Healy.
