Judith Cassell

Judith A. “Judy” Porter Cassell, age 84, of Girard, was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, April 30, 2021.

She was born on December 26, 1936, in Erie, a daughter of the late Lynn Porter Sr. and Estella (Hawley) Porter.

Judy graduated from Fairview High School.  She was a member of the Federated Church in East Springfield.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, big band music and all kinds of wildlife.  When necessary she worked outside the home but her greatest joy was caring for her family.  She knew each of her children intimately and always knew what to say or do for each one in good times and not so good times.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons Thomas F. “Tommy” Tinney when he was a toddler and Albert A. “Allen” Markham Jr. on March 22, 2021. Also by her husband Gerald “Jerry” Cassell and a brother in law, Dick Barton.

Missing her bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck love, are her daughters: Janice Behringer (Robert) of East Springfield, Sherry Metzenbacher (Eric) of Girard, Laurie Rausch of Guys Mills and daughter in law Karen Markham of Albion.  Additionally 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren will forever miss her.  She is further survived by sisters: Joyce Hatch (Pete) of Bemus Point, NY and Karen Barton of Fairview and a brother Lynn Porter Jr. (Dee) of Cleveland, OH and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St., Girard, on Monday May 3rd from 4pm to 7 pm and are invited to attend a funeral service there on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in Burtons All Faith Chapel with Rev. Edward Huntley officiating.  Burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
