Obituary/Notice

Joseph R. Komisarski, age 80, passed away on July 31, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 18, 1942, son of the late Michael and Anna (Vargulich) Komisarski.

Joe graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1960 and went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Annette. He was a gifted Tool and Die Maker and worked in various shops over the years not only in the Erie area but also in St Petersburg/Clearwater Florida area. He was a very unique talent who enjoyed fixing things and especially enjoyed working on and rebuilding cars and trucks.

He was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard as well as a founding member of St. Cyril and Methodist Byzantine Catholic Church in Girard where as a teenager he helped lay the foundation of the church building. He loved the south and lived several times over the years in Florida as well as many vacations there with his family. In retirement, he and Annette spent winters there where he attended many cruise-ins and his beloved swap meets. He loved long car rides and the scenery of the Shenandoah Valley. You would every Sunday see him riding through the car lots. He loved spending time working on his land, wiener roasts and picnics with his family, making home made wine and watching his grandchildren grow up.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death a year ago by his beloved wife of 57 years, Annette; his brother, Michael E. Komisarski and his two sisters, Delores Romba and Janet Pratt.

Joe is survived by his three daughters, Karen (Matt) Schnaekel, Kathleen (Jeff) Stubbe and Holly (Paul) MacKenzie and his six grandchildren, Colleen, Cathleen and Matthew Schnaekel, Jeffrey Stablein, and John and Luke MacKenzie. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as two life long wonderful friends, Dennis Wojsiat and Marvin Brozell.
