John Bowes

John "Johnny" E. Bowes, age 74, passed away peacefully with family at his side on November 3, 2022.   He was born to the late John and Jennie (Sheridan) Bowes on August 13, 1948.  Johnny was one of the first to benefit from the special education and residential services offered by the Dr. Gertrude Barber Center.  The staff at the Barber Center grew to be an extension of Johnny's family.  John B. always wore a smile and never shied from a party.  Johnny enjoyed music and countless episodes of I Love Lucy and would never turn down a cup of Tim Horton's coffee.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in passing by his brother (and partner in crime, the duo affectionately known as “The Bowes Boys”) Patrick Bowes on March 11, 2022 and beloved brother-in-law, Michael Beuchert on January 12, 2022. 

He is survived by sisters Mary Teresa (Bowes) Beuchert and Maggie Bowes; nieces Maureen O'Brien (Kevin Matan) and Elizabeth Marshall (Rob Marshall) and nephew John Beuchert (Melanie Brewer).  His loving spirit will also be missed by great-nephew Alex O'Brien and great-nieces Lilli and Lydia Beuchert.

Friends are invited to call Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 816 W.26^th St. from 10:00 am until time of a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Pl., Erie, PA 16507.
