Georgia Mclaurin

Mother Georgia A. Booth McLaurin was born September 19, 1931 to the late George Jasper Booth and Lavada Jewler Booth in Collins, Mississippi. Mother McLaurin was a devoted Christian. She professed Christ at a very early age at Friendship Church in Collins Mississippi. She was a present member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the gospel chorus, missionary pastors and former president of the Mother’s Board. Mother McLaurin was educated at the Friendship school in Covington County. She held many job titles, most notable nurse aide and a foster grandparent at various schools. Mother McLaurin was amazing at everything especially cooking. She also enjoyed gardening.

Georgia departed this life in the early morning of March 14. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herman and Oscar Booth; three sisters, Earlean Rakin, Olivia Janowski and Arlene Price; a son, Gary Lee McLaurin; a daughter, Sheila McLaurin Smith; a granddaughter, Constance Eady and a great grandson, Naim Bayette.

Mother McLaurin leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Shelly McLaurin Sr.; her children, Lee McLaurin, Shellie Jr, Frederick (Linda) McLaurin, Steffon McLaurin, Connie Shanetta and Knioka McLaurin; two great-grandchildren, whom she raised, William Crockett and Geaira Williams; 34 grandchildren, 110 great-grandchildren, 27 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lee Booth Crosby; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Betty Johnson; two special honorary daughters, who she loved like her own, Margaret Barnett of Erie, PA and May Wayne of Friendship, MS and two special sons, Dewitt Smith and Gary Williams.

Friends will be received at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 160 W. 20th St, Erie, PA 16502, on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Erie Cemetery.
