Deanna Canales

December 4, 1984 — February 4, 2023

Deanna “Holly” Canales, age 38, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Erie on December 4, 1984 a daughter of the late Deanna Akerly McIntire and Raymond McIntire (Linda).

Holly was a graduate from Iroquois High School.

She worked at McDonalds for several years and most recently at the Barber National Institute.

Holly’s first date with the love of her life, Alex Canales, was seven years ago.  They were set up together through relatives Laura and Brad McIntire.  From that moment on, Holly and Alex were inseparable, they did everything together.  On June 29, 2019, they tied the knot and Holly’s dream of becoming Mrs. Alex Canales came true.  They loved married life and enjoyed a delayed honeymoon to Disney in 2022.  Holly became a loving wife and was quite the decorator, making their house truly a home.  She learned how to cook, bake, create menus and shopping lists, take care of finances and make her way in the world, all through the caring guidance of her in-laws, Julie and Paul Canales, who loved her as their own daughter.

Holly had a huge heart and loved being a part of a large family and enjoyed all the get-togethers, always contributing with a dessert or her famous pizza dip.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Mary Ann McIntire her maternal grandfather Wallace Akerly; an uncle, Dean Akerly and an aunt, Debbie Lynn Akerly.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alex Canales; a sister, Shari (Bob) Lutton; her in-laws “Mom and Dad” Julie and Paul Canales; sister-in-law, Rachel (Karl) Wollman; brother-in-law, Michael Canales (Whitney Valerio); grandmother, Carol (Chester) Widomski; three nieces, Marlowe, Alyson and Ayva; her very special Grandma Zimmerman and her Papa, Robert Canales.
