C. D. Adams

C.D. Adams age 89 of Erie, died quietly at home on December 13, 2014.

He was born in Greenville, AL. on February 6, 1925 a son of the late John and Callie Wilkerson Adams.

He was a graduate of Greenville High School and worked for the General Electric Company in Erie retiring in 1986.

C.D. was a great man, and enjoyed gardening and loved cooking the collard greens and baking cornbread. He also enjoyed fishing, watching sports and television game shows along with playing the lottery. His greatest love however was spending time with his grandchildren. He was loved by the entire westside neighborhood and also his close family

In addition to his parents, and wife, Dorothy Brown Adams, C.D. was preceded in death by three children; C.D. Adams Jr., Patricia Adams and Michael Adams. Also predeceased by a brother John Crenshaw along with four sisters; Cora Williams, Ida Ma Williams, Egola Odom and Catherine Roundtree, and great grandchild Kamron.

He is survived by his children Gail Townes, Gregory Adams both of Erie, and Steven Adams (Kathy) of Tacoma, WA; sisters: Abbey Mae Adams, Detroit, MI; Queen Thomas, Pensacola, FL; Jennie Perkins, Newark NJ; brothers: Aljay Adams, Detroit, MI; Robert Crenshaw, Mobile, AL; brother-in-law Mizel Brown and his wife Wendy, Rochester, NY; seven grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, and 23 great great grandchildren.

Friends may call at St. James A.M.E. Church, 236 East 11th Street, Erie PA 16503, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., and are invited to services there on Saturday at 1:00 pm with Reverend Floyd Alexander officiating.

Burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
