Bruce Quinlan

January 30, 1949 — March 3, 2022

Bruce Ward “Quin” Quinlan, age 73, of Erie, passed away at his residence Thursday, March 3, 2022.  He was born in Erie January 30, 1949, son of the late Raymond J. and Margaret Gene Dolloff Quinlan. 

Bruce was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and was an accomplished member of the dive team and referred to as the “Diving ACE.” He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Airforce in Vietnam.  Bruce worked in production for American Sterilizer/Steris Company, where he retired from in 2007 after 33 years of service.  

A true American Patriot, Bruce was a member of the VFW Post 470 and VVA Erie Chapter 435, where he was named Vietnam Veteran of the Year in 2010.  He was instrumental in the establishment of the Vietnam Veteran Memorial at 26th and State St. in Erie.  Bruce was a Master Woodworker, not-quite a scratch golfer and a FORD Mustang enthusiast. 

In addition to his parents and step father, Ralph Minor, he is preceded in death by a brother, Mark Dennis Quinlan and a niece, Janet Lee Phillips. 

Bruce is survived by his wife, Ruth Dauer Quinlan; daughter, Heather Quinlan, of Erie; sons, Mark Quinlan, of Stafford, VA and Nathan (Danielle) Quinlan, of Pittsburgh, PA; granddaughter, Delanie Quinlan and grandsons, Barrett and Noah Quinlan.  Further surviving are his sister, Susan (Donald) Cameron, of Erie and Bryce Breter, who was like a son to the family, as well as 1 niece and 1 nephew.  Bruce also leaves his beloved of 15 years, Lynne Karle-Wright, of Erie. 

Bruce was known for frequently utilizing the quotes; “Measure Twice and Cut Once”, “WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT” and referred to everyone as “DUDE...” 

Services are private and entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Road, Erie. 

Memorials may be made to the Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Place, Erie, PA 16507 or the Vietnam Veterans Association, Erie, PA Chapter 435, 4808 E. Carver Ave., Erie, PA 16511.
