Bonnie Dias

May 21, 1945 — February 25, 2021

Bonnie Sihto Dias, age 75, of Erie, passed away February 25, 2021 at Edinboro Manor.

She was born in Erie, on May 21, 1945, a daughter of the late Sulo Sihto and Ginger Cook Sihto.

Bonnie graduated from Strong Vincent High School.

She retired from Accutool where she worked as a machinist; and had previously worked at Paul Bunyon and Candy World.

Bonnie was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church; and was a long time member of Siebenbuerger Ladies Auxillary and the Sons of Lake Erie.

She enjoyed crosswords, reading, country music, baking, crocheting and the casinos.  Her apple pies were delicious as attested by her family.  Bonnie gifted her beautiful afgans to family members, friends and numerous fundraisers.

Bonnie and Doug loved going to casinos in Erie, Ohio, New York, and Las Vegas.  They looked forward to the Christmas holiday, in which they enjoyed decorating, baking and shopping for gifts for the family; Bonnie especially enjoyed the visits from her son, David, her daughter- in- law, Clare and granddaughters.  They would all congregate at the kitchen table for a nice meal; a large variety of home baked goodies and exchange gifts.

She was a caring wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family.  She was a kind and generous person who would help anyone if she could.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Anthony Bucheral and Mariane Buzard.  Bonnie’s husband of 55 years, Douglas Dias, passed away on  May 23, 2021.

She is survived by her son, David Dias (Clare); her granddaughters, Samantha Goggins (Charlie), Kelsey Dias and Nicole Dias; her siblings, Pat Leone (Joe), Bob Sihto (Barb), Dave Sihto (Gay) and Paul Sihto; as well as her brother-in- law, Stan Buzard and sister- in- law, Lois Bucheral.  She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.

Thank you to LECOM Hospice for their care during a difficult time; and to Patty and Joe Leone for always being there when needed.

Special thanks to UPMC Hamot staff for taking care of Bonnie over the last 17 years.
