Barbara Richards

Barbara E. Richards, 92, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.  She was born in Brookville, PA on June 8, 1930, daughter of the late Albert L. and Barbara Coyle Richards. She had been a resident of Erie since 1964.

Barbara retired from GTE in 1986 after 22 years following her transfer from Sylvania Electric in Brookville where she had begun working in 1949. 

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Erie and had, for a time, served in the church’s Jane Payne Circle of United Methodist Women. For a number of years she sang with the Erie Chapter of Sweet Adelines, and prior to disabilities, was an active member of the Presque Isle Artists Association. Barbara loved Christ Jesus, family gatherings, water color painting, music, and mystery novels.

She is survived by her sister, Glenyce J. Croasmun of Marienville, PA and by her brother Allen C. Richards of Erie. Surviving nieces and nephews are Dale Croasmun (Joy) of Morrisdale, PA; Kathy Hepler (Doug) of Clarion, PA; Jeanne Andring (Randy) of Marienville, PA; Nathan Croasmun (Dawn) of Butler, PA; and Aaron Richards of Chandler, AZ.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service Tuesday, November 29 at 11:00 A.M. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 4703 West Ridge Road, Erie, PA conducted by Rev. William Hastings and Rev. Douglas Hepler. A private interment will be held Wednesday at Lake Lawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, 602 West 10^th St., Erie, PA 16502.
