Albert Thompson

Albert James Thompson, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Millcreek Community Hospital.

He was born on April 26, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Roy Stanley and Edna Swyers Thompson.

Albert graduated from St. Vincent High School and attended Gannon College. He worked and ultimately retire from Verizon, formerly General Telephone. Albert was an avid hunter, trapper, fisherman and skeet shooter. He loved his trout camp and was a proud card-carrying member of the Sherman, NY Westhill Gang. He was an excellent woodworker and talented photographer, with a particular interest of the Presque Isle landscape. Albert supported conservation efforts of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC). He shared his love of boating by giving lagoon boat tours at the peninsula. He was a longtime member of the Erie Maennerchor Club and Ducks Unlimited Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Luber Thompson; and son, Edward R. Thompson, and younger sister, Dorothy May Thompson.

He will be forever loved by his daughter, Robin Dougan, of Erie; son, Mark A. (wife Tammy) Thompson, of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Michael T. Dougan, of Erie, Mallory DiSalvo, of Pittsburgh, and William (wife Kellie) Thompson, of Colorado; a sister, Nancy Beyer, of Erie; a brother, Stanley Thompson, of Forestville, NY; and several nieces and nephew.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th St. A future burial will take place in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
