Norman R. Vogt, age 81 of Erie passed away Saturday June 27, 2026 at UPMC Hamot. He was born January 27, 1945 in Erie the son of the late Norman and Emma (Pude) Vogt.
A lifelong resident of Erie, Norman served with the City of Erie Fire Department for 33 years retiring in 2004. He had held various titles within the department and had served at several of the department’s stations throughout the city. Norman was also an active softball player having played for several local and travel teams both in modified and fast- pitch leagues.
An avid woodworker, he enjoyed scroll saw wood projects and would sell items at various craft shows. In his spare time, he loved to read books and follow the activities of his children and grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Marie (O’Neal) Vogt who died in 2012 and a sister, Dorothy Vollmer.
Norman is survived by his children; Kathleen Vogt (Andy) of Erie, Michael Vogt (Kimberly) of Girard, PA, and Steve Vogt (Heidi) of Waters Edge, FL. He is the grandfather of Andrew Kohler (Vanessa), Adel Vogt, Aeden Vogt, Hallie Vogt, Cassandra Hardik, and Kyle Hardik (Brittany) and is the great-grandfather of Elizabeth and Nolan Kohler and Ella Hardik.
Norman is also survived by three sisters; Lois Askounes (Lowell) of Girard, PA, Linda Johnson of Pittsburgh, PA, and Carol Watkins of Poway, CA along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private with burial in Laurel Hill cemetery.
