It is with much sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Nelrita Thornton. Rita transitioned this life on November 28, 2025. Her loving children and grandchildren were at her side.
Nelrita was born on February 24, 1949, to the late Soloman and Jerrie Lee Carlisle-Gore, in Erie, Pennsylvania.
She is predeceased by her wonderful husband, Bill Thornton.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Cornerstone Liberty Community Church, 2220 Wayne St. Viewing will be from 10:00 am until the 11:30 am Celebration of Life. Burial in Erie Cemetery.
