Nancy A. Greenaway, age 95, passed away peacefully at home into the loving arms of God with her devoted daughters by her side on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was the oldest daughter of the late Julia (Kahn) and Paul Wersing. Nancy had many fond memories of her high school days in Wilkinsburg and was especially proud of her employment at the local Five and Dime store and National Union Fire Insurance Company.
Nancy fell in love with and married the boy next door. Together they had over 73 happy and eventful years together. She was a supportive partner to her husband (making loving homes in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florda) and was an amazing homemaker. Nancy is remembered for her love of family, faith, and her subtle, sharp wit. Throughout life she enjoyed gardening, crafting, musicals, and wintering in Florida. After each of her travels, upon returning home she would say “There’s no place like home!”
Nancy is preceded in death by her loving husband Samuel Greenaway. She is also preceded in death by her sons Paul Greenaway and Daniel Greenaway and daughters-in-law Barbara Greenaway and Ellen Greenaway, her grandson Sam Greenaway, and her brothers and sister Paul Wersing and his wife Gloria Wersing, John Wersing, and Barabara Pepper and her husband Robert Pepper.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Karen (Mark) Lipinski, Nancy (Chris) Johnson, and Susan Greenaway, grandchildren Rachel (Roger) Estok, Katie (Bob) Bauer, Beth (Matt) Thomson, Laura (Daryn) Lipinski, Mark Lipinski, Jr., and Julia Johnson; sister-in-laws, Joan Wersing and Estelle Greenaway; 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
