Melanie Faith Wood

Melanie Faith (Chestner) Wood left this world on Thursday morning Sept. 10, 2026 after a two year battle with Cancer.

Her Journey began on July 17,1964 in Erie PA the daughter of the late Harvey and Marion Chestner. She graduated from McDowell High School in 1983 and followed up with Barber School at JH Thompson Academy and used her skills at several local salons.

Melanie loved to bake and cook from scratch which she would share with all the neighbors, and she was always there if someone needed a coffee and chat.

She was a very loving person who would do anything for anyone no matter how difficult.

Melanie met her future husband Steve in 1984 on a blind date setup by his sister when he was home on leave while moving from Georgia to Germany while in the Military and they had been inseparable since getting married on April 8,1989.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Chestner, and her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years Stephen Wood; a brother Brian Chestner; sisters Heather Rifflard, Carla Arduini (Tom Collingwood); a daughter and grandchildren plus many neighbors who called her Mom and Mema.

She will be greatly missed and provided and received lots of Love.

Friends are invited to call Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services Inc., West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St. between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm with a small service to commence at 6:00 pm by Rabbi Morias.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
