Matthew Kraut

Matthew Kraut, age 69, of Erie, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023. He was born in Erie, April 2, 1954 to the late Jerome and Dorothy O’Hara Kraut. Matt was a graduate of Cathedral Preparatory School, class of 1972

Matt was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a cryptanalyst in Berlin, Germany. He was also retired from the Erie County Assistance Office having worked there many years.

Matt also loved singing, golfing, going to the casino, and entertaining others. He belonged to The Sportsman’s Club, and the St. Mary’s Club.

He is survived by his daughters, Natasha Eck (Kevin), Nadine Colwell (Chad), by his siblings, Michael Kraut (Deborah), Martin Kraut, Maurice Kraut, and Mary E. Kraut. Matt is further survived by his niece Maureen Kraut, dozens of cousins, and his cat Stormy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen.

Friends are invited to call on the family Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10^th Street, Erie.
