Mary Brigit Williams Snyder, 73, formerly of Erie, died surrounded by family and friends on April 8, 2023, in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, from complications from cancer.
She was born in Erie on March 9, 1950, a daughter of the late Rogers and Ann B. Williams.
Mary was raised in Erie and graduated from Villa Maria Academy, Edinboro State College and Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Kapolei, Hawaii, and St. Andrew Catholic Church in Erie.
Mary was a visual artist whose love for children touched many lives during a long teaching career in special education, art and art history in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, California and Hawaii.
Her true passion was practicing fine art. Mary loved drawing and painting. Watercolors were her favorite medium.
Mary’s faith, kindness, compassion and love of life will be remembered by all who knew her.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Cary Snyder; a brother, Kevin Williams; and a sister, Ann Williams Lux.
Survivors include her two sons, Drew Snyder and his wife, Tori, of Kapolei, Hawaii, and Clay Snyder and his partner, Daisy Gomez, of Seattle, Washington; two sisters, Patricia Palattella of Catonsville, Maryland, and Evelyn Wesman and her husband, Gary, of Erie; a brother, Rogers Williams and his wife, Pamela, of Seaside, California; 2 grandchildren, Sloane and Owen Snyder; a stepson, Michael Snyder and his wife, Becky, and their daughters Ella and Jillian, all of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Ann Williams, of Honolulu; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10:00 am in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1116 W.7th St., Erie. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery followed by a reception in St. Andrew’s Arudel Hall.
